Zachary Zawodny
Information Technology and Networking
Information technology and software development has always been a passion for Zachary Zawodny, a 2023 µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø graduate, so he chose the College’s information technology (IT) and networking program with a concentration in programming.
The affordable and quality education provided at µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø paired with the opportunity to study in a field he loves is what made his decision to enroll a no-brainer.
Zawodny’s first day at µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø was a bit different than he had imagined. The onset of the pandemic forced all of his courses to switch online. “It was a little strange at first to almost teach yourself along with college lectures, but it definitely taught me self-accountability and discipline that I use to this day.”
Since graduation, Zawodny landed a job as an application support specialist at DART First State and, most recently, signed a contract to become a part-time data analyst.
“My favorite memory of my time at µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø was calling my advisor, Chuck Whealton, to share the news that I was offered a great job that he referred to me,” he said.
Over all, Zawodny credits the College for introducing him to IT concepts and pathways, teaching the real-life skills of job searching, and introducing him to an internship that has jump-started his career.
“My most valuable experience from my time at µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø was my internship at AI Whoo. The hard work I put into my internship later landed me a paid position at the company,” Zawodny said. “Hard work pays off.”
Zawodny’s plans for the future are sure to be bright. “I plan to work as much as I can while I continue my education at Wilmington University and see what opportunities open up from there.”
To prospective students of µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø, Zawodny encourages them to take nothing for granted, learn as much as you can, and keep your mind open to other pathways that interest you.
