Alex Kemp
Program Manager
Alex Kemp joined µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø’s workforce development team as program manager in 2023. In that role, he has contributed to a range of programs, from summer camps to workforce training courses. He also has helped expand workforce development and community education offerings, introducing courses such as yoga and line-dancing.
Kemp’s favorite part of the job is working with his colleagues on the workforce development team. He values the way the team collaborates across programs and supports each other as they work to create positive experiences for students and children at the College.
The annual summer camps at µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø are another highlight for Kemp, who enjoys working with students, building a strong team, and embracing the unpredictable energy each child brings.
“The kids come here, and every single day they bring something else… they bring a lot of energy and fun,” he said.
Kemp has learned a lot during his three years as program manager, including how to “adapt to change and become more patient.”
“Everything can be going well, and then in one minute it can change,” he said. “You’ve got to be able to stay composed.”
Working with students in a variety of programs enables Kemp to see the difference µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø can make for them.
“I would say student success is just being able to reach that full potential, excelling academically but also building connections,” he said.
Outside the office, Kemp, who formerly worked as a personal trainer, enjoys watching and coaching sports such as basketball and football and sometimes refereeing games on weekends. He also enjoys spending time with his 7-month-old daughter.
