Academic Counselor
Errienne Harper became an employee of the College in 2003 while earning her degree as a student at µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø. Harper serves as an academic counselor. During her career, she has become more knowledgeable about teaching strategies, advising strategies, and techniques to support student success. Harper’s future plans include receiving her doctorate degree and to help develop a vigorous advising model that assists in improving academic achievement at the College.
Q: What is your favorite thing about working at µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø?
"My favorite thing is the people at µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø. The staff and faculty are so knowledgeable, supportive, and always willing to offer help in whatever way they can. The students are hard working and goal oriented as they strive to further their educational journey."
Q: Why was it important for you to work at µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø?
"I am a µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø graduate and started working at µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø while completing my studies. My educational experience while attending the College was wonderful. Through my employment experience, I saw how dedicated the staff and faculty were helping the students identify and achieve their educational goals. I wanted to be apart of such an amazing team."
Q: What did you do before working at µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø?
"After graduating high school, I started attending µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø and was offered a job at the College while I was pursuing my education. Even though I had small jobs while attending high school, µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø was my first real job and I loved the work environment so much that years and years later, I am still with the institution."
Q: Describe your first day at µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø. What was that experience like?
"My first day at µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø was very welcoming and exciting. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They made me feel right at home. The work environment was so pleasant."
Q: What changes have you seen in yourself since you started working here?
"I am more knowledgeable about teaching strategies, advising strategies, and techniques to help improve student outcomes. I have seen tremendous growth with my leadership skills and reaching outside my comfort zone to become more extraverted."
Q: What hobbies or interests do you have outside of the College?
"Outside of the College, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful family. I also enjoy crafting, DIY projects, and event planning."
Q: Do you have a favorite memory from your time at µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø thus far?
"My favorite memory from my time at µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø is watching students celebrate their success and walk across the stage at graduation."
Q: What's something people may not know about you?
"Something that people may not know about me is I used to play the saxophone in high school."
Q: What are your future goals?
"My future goals are to continue my educational journey to receive a doctorate degree and help develop a robust advising model to improve academic achievement at the College."
